LEGO's collaboration with Pokémon is expanding significantly, with a total of 20 sets now officially announced to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. These sets range from detailed recreations of iconic Pokémon to innovative builds incorporating new LEGO technology.
The initial wave of LEGO Pokémon sets launched on February 27, 2026, featuring a trio of beloved Generation I Pokémon: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Alongside these larger builds, the collection also included individual sets for Eevee and a dynamic Pikachu with a Poké Ball. The Pikachu and Poké Ball set, priced at $199.99 with 2,050 pieces, depicts the electric mouse leaping from a Poké Ball, with options for building either a male or female tail. This set was noted for its surprisingly cohesive build process.
A second, larger wave of 17 sets is slated for release on August 1, 2026. This batch includes smaller, more affordable options, with prices ranging from $14.99 to $119.99. A significant feature of this new collection is the integration of LEGO's Smart Play technology. Two sets, SMART Play™: Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle and SMART Play™: Training House with Pikachu, will come with a fully functional Smart Brick. The remaining 10 sets are designated as “Smart Brick-compatible,” meaning they include Smart Tags that allow them to interact with a Smart Brick but do not come with one pre-installed.
Among the August 1 releases are the Munchlax set, featuring the 'Big Eater' Pokémon on a tree stump with treats, priced at $69.99 with 757 pieces. The Arcanine set focuses solely on the Fire-type Pokémon with 1,190 pieces for $109.99. The legendary Rayquaza set, costing $129.99 with 1,083 pieces, allows for the Pokémon to be displayed standing or emerging from a cloud pillar, and includes a Zinnia minifigure.
Further sets are scheduled for release on October 1, 2026. The most substantial of these is the Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball set, priced at $299.99 and containing 2,386 pieces. This set opens to reveal a battle scene and Professor Oak’s laboratory, and includes minifigures of Red, a Picnicker, and Professor Oak, along with a Pokédex and small figures of Pikachu and Eevee. A separate Up-Scaled Red Minifigure set will also be available for $79.99, comprising 930 pieces, appealing to fans of the original Red, Blue, and Yellow games.
Availability for these sets may vary, with LEGO Store exclusivity sometimes lasting up to two months before wider retail distribution. Interested buyers can often sign up for stock notifications on the LEGO website. Beyond the brick, Pokémon's 30th anniversary is being celebrated through other merchandise, including a special Time Magazine edition with multiple covers and a new Pokémon Trading Card Game collection.
