The fast-paced roguelike Everything is Crab has surpassed 500,000 sales since its launch last month. To celebrate this milestone, developer Aggro Crab has released the Evolution 1.1 update, introducing a wealth of new content and improvements to the game.
New Evolutionary Paths and Abilities
The Evolution 1.1 update adds a new evolution called Tracker, a level 3 evolution with predator affinity. Tracker allows players to target specific enemies and gain bonuses against them, enhancing the player's role as a hunter. This new evolution, along with others, can be unlocked by completing specific challenge levels. For instance, Tracker becomes available after completing pressure level 7.
Players will also gain access to a new ultimate ability, Lick Wounds, which provides a self-healing mechanic. This addition aims to reduce the frustration of dying while searching for healing food items scattered throughout the game world.
Furthermore, the update introduces new specializations for existing evolutions like Stoner, Leech, and Spur. Players now have the option to forgo these specializations and instead gain 10 mutagen points, offering greater flexibility in build customization. Unlocking new evolutions has also been streamlined, with formerly challenge-locked evolutions now obtainable by completing pressure levels for the first time. The Lick Wounds ultimate, for example, can be unlocked by beating pressure level 3.
Visual Enhancements and Cosmetics
Everything is Crab's world has received a visual overhaul with the addition of more foliage, trees, and obstacles, contributing to a more vibrant and alive game environment. Alongside these world changes, new cosmetic items are now available to unlock by completing in-game challenges, allowing players to further personalize their crab avatars.
Ongoing Development and Future Plans
The Evolution 1.1 update also incorporates numerous balance adjustments, quality-of-life tweaks, Twitch integration, modifications to the Charm ability, and new accessibility options. Players can find a comprehensive list of all changes in the official patch notes.
Looking ahead, Aggro Crab has announced plans for further content. Another significant update is scheduled for late summer, which will include a community-designed addition and more free cosmetic items. Additionally, a premium DLC pack is slated for release in the autumn, alongside further free content updates.
