As the year winds down and major AAA releases continue to hit shelves, Nintendo hosted its latest Indie World Showcase, focusing on new titles from independent developers for its Switch and upcoming Switch 2 consoles. The presentation revealed release dates, new gameplay, and playable demos for a diverse slate of games.
Upcoming Releases
Chucklefish and Robtality's cozy magical life simulator, Witchbrook, is set to launch on January 28, 2027. Following this, the 3D platformer Winds of Viridia is slated for release next year, with a free demo available today on the eShop. City of None, a 2D platformer from a co-creator of Celeste, features a striking pixel art style reminiscent of Game Boy Color classics and is scheduled for release in 2027. The sword-surfing adventure Sword of the Sea, from the creators of Abzu and Journey, will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29, 2026. This title previously earned a Must-Play badge.
Fans of stylish combat can look forward to Tenjutsu, a roguelike brawler inspired by John Wick sensibilities, from a designer of Dead Cells. It is expected on Switch 2 in 2027. RPG enthusiasts might find Threads of Time, a time-traveling adventure RPG, appealing when it launches on both Switch and Switch 2 next summer. Dumpster Gang, a game where players embody raccoons causing mischief, is planned for March 2027. Super Battle Golf, already available on PC, will bring its blend of golf and party-game antics to Switch 2 on March 25, 2027.
R.E.P.O., a cooperative physics-driven horror-looter originally from PC, is also heading to Switch 2 in 2027. Haunted Paws, a co-op title where players control pups searching a haunted mansion, will release on Switch and Switch 2 in May 2027, with a demo available today. Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino, an adventure game featuring a fox girl and her frog companion on a mysterious island, is set for a spring 2027 release on both platforms. The popular slime-collecting and base-building simulation Slime Rancher 2 is coming to Switch 2 in January 2027, featuring an exclusive in-game item for the platform. Spirit Crossing, a multiplayer game from the makers of Cozy Grove, allows players to build homes and explore above the clouds with friends, launching on November 16, 2026, for Switch and Switch 2. My Arms Are Longer Now, a quirky comedy game featuring Australian comedians, is set for March 11, 2027, on both consoles. The charming Game Boy-styled critter delivery game Petal Runner will receive a full launch on March 8, 2027, with a demo available today. Finally, the arcade-style coin-pusher Raccoin: Chaos Max Edition will hit Switch 2 on November 10, 2026, and includes a demo available today.
Additional Titles Announced
Several other titles received release windows: Tanuki: Pon's Summer - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch on November 10, 2026. Finding Polka and Floor Plan: Slap Out Of It! are both slated for Spring 2027. Lost and Found Co. and Hyperyuki: Snowboard Syndicate are expected in Early 2027. Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services is available today, and Everything is Crab is scheduled for January 26, 2027.
