Archetype Entertainment has announced that its upcoming science fiction role-playing game, Exodus, will launch on April 7, 2027. The revelation came during this year's Opening Night Live showcase, accompanied by a trailer that offered a closer look at the game's companions and world.
The latest trailer prominently features Salt, one of the otherworldly companions joining the player character, Jun Aslan. Salt is described as an Awakened, a species of self-aware animals native to an ocean planet, inhabited by intelligent octopuses. The trailer hints at a complex and potentially tragic backstory for Salt, showing her amidst a desolate, dried-up ocean environment. This depiction has led to speculation about her fate and the player's role in protecting her.
In addition to Salt, the trailer also provided a glimpse of Emrys, another of Jun's alien companions. Emrys belongs to the Deva, a celestial species characterized by multiple consciousnesses. The presentation of these companions echoes the focus on squad dynamics often found in titles like BioWare's Mass Effect series.
Archetype Entertainment has also shared new music from the game's score, including the track "Elegy for a Forgotten World." This piece features ethereal chanting, synthesizers, and orchestral elements, contributing to the atmospheric science fiction setting.
Exodus is currently available to wishlist on Steam, with its release scheduled for early next year. The game aims to deliver a narrative-rich RPG experience with a strong emphasis on character relationships and a deep, alien world.
