Image Comics and James Tynion IV's Tiny Onion imprint are expanding the Exquisite Corpses universe with a new spinoff series, Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer. The series delves deeper into the backstory of one of the stylish killers from the main anthology title.

Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer #1 reunites writer Che Grayson and artist Adam Gorham, who are bringing their talents to the hyperviolent world of the titular masked assassin. The official summary describes the Fox Mask Killer as an enigmatic figure feared even among other assassins. The new series will explore her desire to leave her dangerous life behind and the potential help she might find from a mysterious figure.

Grayson expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that the Fox Mask Killer character immediately stood out due to her design, which hinted at a rich backstory. The writer highlighted the challenge and excitement of developing a character whose face is hidden, noting that this new series will finally reveal her identity. Grayson also confirmed that this is a dream project, developed alongside Adam Gorham and collaborators Jordie and Becca.

Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer #1 is scheduled for release on September 16, with a final order cutoff for comic shops on August 24. This spinoff follows the main Exquisite Corpses series, which features a rotating cast of creative teams telling stories about its various killers. The universe has also seen an expansion into a successfully funded Kickstarter card game.
