Players can expect to spend approximately 20 hours completing the main story campaign in Playground Games' upcoming RPG, Fable. This estimate was confirmed by Xbox Game Studios during a group Q&A session at Gamescom 2026, where developers elaborated on the game's scope.

Associate Game Director Will Kennedy shared that the game will feature around 15 to 20 hours of mainline quest content, supplemented by an additional 15 to 20 hours dedicated to side quests and open-world exploration. Kennedy also emphasized that the game's life simulation systems are designed to be "limitless," offering players the potential for indefinite engagement.

"And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want," Kennedy stated. Associate Game Director Craig Littler echoed this sentiment, noting that players "can literally play it forever if that's what you want to do." This suggests that Fable is designed to cater to different playstyles, offering a focused narrative experience for those who wish to complete the main story, while providing deep, emergent gameplay for those who prefer to immerse themselves in the world and its systems.

Players who choose to engage with every aspect of the game, including its detailed NPC interactions and world exploration, will find their playtime significantly extended beyond the main campaign length. Fable is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 27, 2027.
