Far-Right VTubers Ostracize Collaborator After Gender Identity Revelation

The far-right VTuber community has seen internal conflict after VTuber Ember Paradox revealed on a Twitch stream that they were assigned male at birth. Ember Paradox, known for her female avatar and collaborations with other "anti-woke" streamers like Tectone, Kirsche, and Strawb, faced immediate scrutiny.

On October 26, a clip circulated on X showing Ember Paradox's voice changer temporarily malfunctioning during a livestream. This incident sparked what has been described as an "investigative hate campaign" from her right-leaning former allies. Shortly after, VTuber Strawb publicly questioned Ember Paradox on X, asking, "you are a biological man though, right?"

The situation has been labeled a "leopards ate my face" moment, a term used to describe individuals within marginalized groups who face negative consequences after supporting right-wing figures or ideologies.

Ember Paradox addressed the revelation publicly in a stream on October 27. When asked if she considers herself trans or a man, Ember Paradox responded, "I don't know. I don't have an answer for that." She elaborated, stating that her on-stream persona, "Ember, the redhead, sometimes anime catgirl," is who she is while streaming. Off-stream, she described herself as "normal," not undergoing therapy or medication, nor spending her days dressing up. She indicated that she uses she/her pronouns when streaming but prefers male pronouns when not in her VTuber persona.

Following the stream, many subscribers accused Ember Paradox of lying about being a woman in her Discord server. Collaborators on Twitch, identified as MAGA supporters, accused her of "lying about his gender to get close to women and speak to them in ways they would not be speaking to a man." Ember Paradox, who has previously used her platform to criticize social justice warriors, found little goodwill within her community following these events. After the October 27 stream, Ember Paradox's subscriber and follower counts reportedly decreased by thousands across Kick, Twitch, and YouTube.
