Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will require approximately 200GB of storage space upon its release next year, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi. The Square Enix developer discussed the considerable install requirements for the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy in an interview with VGC.
Hamaguchi confirmed that the final installment of Cloud and Sephiroth's story will be particularly demanding on players' storage. "Things are still getting worked out, but it’s probably going to be around 200GB of game," he stated when asked about potential additional downloads for physical versions. He acknowledged that while larger file sizes do not automatically equate to a better game, the team is committed to delivering a high-quality experience that concludes the series.
"However, this title is the culmination of more than 10 years of work from our development team and serves as the conclusion to the FFVII Remake series," Hamaguchi said. "We are committed to delivering a game that not only meets the expectations of our fans, but is also a work that we, as creators, can be truly proud of."
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is slated for release on April 8, 2027, for PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game's substantial size reflects the team's dedication to its vision for the remake project's conclusion.
