Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, slated to conclude the story initiated with Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2020, may not mark the definitive end of the narrative. Recent revelations from a leak originating from the Epic Games Store database, as reported by EpicDB, have unveiled a series of potential add-ons and different versions for the game. While Square Enix has yet to make any official announcements, the detailed nature of these listings has fueled considerable speculation.

Most notably, the presence of a 'Story Expansion Pass' strongly implies that the game's narrative will extend beyond its main campaign. The mention of a 'pass' further suggests the possibility of multiple expansions planned for the future.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has previously received substantial story DLC post-launch, including the 'Intergrade' expansion focusing on Yuffie, which accompanied its release on current-gen consoles and PC. It is conceivable that Rebirth could follow a similar pattern, potentially delving into unresolved plot threads or offering a concluding send-off for its characters.

The leaked data also lists nine distinct DLC packs. However, it is important to note that these could range from minor bonuses or cosmetic items to more significant content. The inclusion of a 'Digital Contents Pack' points towards the likelihood of cosmetic additions.

The specifics regarding the number of story expansions remain unmentioned in the leak, which aligns with the expectation that such content would likely arrive well after the game's initial launch. The listings also indicate a pre-order bonus and two special editions: Premium and Premium Plus.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was initially revealed in June during Summer Game Fest. The game currently lacks a firm release date but is anticipated to launch in the spring of 2027. This installment is set to be the first in the trilogy to have a simultaneous multiplatform release across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, as well as the Nintendo Switch 2. Game director Naoki Hamaguchi has assured that the multiplatform release will not necessitate any compromises on graphical fidelity.
