New gameplay footage for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has revealed a hot springs feature that offers players permanent stat increases and introduces a collection of new bathing suit skins for the party.
As detailed in a social media post by the official Final Fantasy VII Remake account and confirmed by director Naoki Hamaguchi, these hot spring locations are hidden throughout the game's world map. Stopping at these spots will not only allow players to witness unique character interactions and dialogue but also grant a permanent boost to the party's maximum HP. Furthermore, the bathing suit outfits featured during these hot spring segments can be unlocked as collectible cosmetic skins.
Clips showcasing the feature have displayed skins for Cloud, Barret, and Cid. Red XIII, who typically has little to no clothing, will likely see minimal visual change from any new skins. Vincent Valentine, a newly playable character, is shown bathing in his usual attire, maintaining his characteristic cool demeanor.
Hamaguchi elaborated on the feature, stating that each hot spring provides a different look into the characters' lives, and the outfits present are unlockable. He encouraged players to explore the world, find these springs, and enjoy the "special moments with your companions."
This reveal comes as Square Enix continues to share details about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth ahead of its launch. Previous announcements include an option for players to automatically level up their characters, a playtime estimate of over 100 hours for completionists, and information suggesting that achieving the Platinum Trophy will not be overly challenging. The game is slated to release on April 8, 2027, for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
