Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will arrive on April 8th, marking nearly six years since the release of the first part of the remake trilogy. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer showcasing various playable characters and offering a glimpse of gameplay features.

Cloud Strife will indeed be seen riding a motorbike in the new installment, even during a boss encounter against a colossal ultimate weapon. The trailer also highlighted moments where characters like Zack and Aerith interact. Gameplay footage suggested a more organic, less polished presentation compared to typical showcases, featuring mechanics such as deploying chocobos for combat, a hookshot for enhanced world traversal and verticality, and an in-game camera for taking pictures.

Additionally, details have emerged regarding the game's post-launch story expansion pass. This downloadable content will be delivered in two parts. The first expansion will focus on the fan-favorite character Vincent Valentine and the Turks, while the second will center on Sephiroth. While Vincent's inclusion aligns with his established character arc, including his own spin-off title Dirge of Cerberus, the expansion of Sephiroth's narrative, following his expanded role in Crisis Core and the forthcoming shutdown of Ever Crisis, has been met with some reservation, with a desire to maintain his enigmatic presence.
