Developers behind the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy have expressed a desire for players to experience the series' upcoming conclusion without external explanations or spoilers. During a panel at PAX West, game director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo discussed new gameplay systems and characters while advocating for a personal interpretation of the finale.

A presentation slide during the panel stated, "We hope you experience the climax as something that's not explained to you by someone else, but rather, as something that belongs to you." Hamaguchi reiterated this sentiment, stating, "And that's why, at the very end, rather than having us as developers explain the answers, we would love for players to receive them on their own as their own personal experience. The reunions we've built up throughout the trilogy, the bonds with our companions, and the final resolve. All of this leads to this moment — the third title. We truly hope that you all experience these final moments while carrying in your hearts the journey and the feelings that you've built up along the way."

The panel also delved into the FITS combat system, a new addition to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, along with details on playable characters Cid and Vincent. Teruki Endo explained that Cid is designed as an aerial combat specialist wielding a magical lance, excelling in long-range engagements. Vincent, on the other hand, utilizes a gun for mid-range combat and can transition to close-quarters fighting with his Galian Beast transformation.

The FITS system offers four distinct combat specializations that alter character abilities and appearances, though outfit customization remains independent of FITS selection. The Warrior FITS focuses on aggressive offensive play, while Knight prioritizes defense and party support. Black Mage enables rapid casting of powerful elemental spells, and Summoner allows for direct control over summoned allies to execute synchronized attacks.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is slated for release on April 8, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series S.
