Square Enix announced during a recent State of Play presentation that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the conclusion to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, is slated for release on April 8, 2027. The developer also confirmed that the game will receive two story-focused downloadable content expansions, starring the iconic Sephiroth and fan-favorite Vincent Valentine.

The details emerged following the presentation and were shared on the official PlayStation Blog, accompanying information regarding Revelation's various editions. A Premium Edition of the game will include the main title along with a Story Expansion Pass. This pass comprises two distinct DLC chapters, tentatively titled "Story DLC 1: Sephiroth" and "Story DLC 2: Vincent & the Turks." According to Square Enix, both DLCs are anticipated to launch between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028 and will also be available for individual purchase.

These upcoming DLCs will build upon the established narrative of the remake trilogy, which has thus far featured one major story expansion: Episode INTERMISSION for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. That Yuffie-centric chapter, released nearly a year after Remake, presented an original story detailing her activities in Midgar before meeting Cloud and his companions. While Sephiroth and Vincent possess extensive backstories within the broader Final Fantasy 7 lore, their respective DLCs are expected to explore new narrative territory rather than rehash existing events. Director Naoki Hamaguchi previously indicated that any future DLC would likely delve into the "untold stories" of characters. If Episode INTERMISSION's approximately six-hour playtime serves as an indicator, the Revelation story DLCs may offer a comparable experience.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. No pricing details for the story DLC have been disclosed at this time.
