Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy, is poised to be a substantial undertaking for players who wish to experience everything it has to offer. Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently suggested that completionist playthroughs could "easily take over a hundred hours" to finish.
In an interview with GameSpot, Hamaguchi detailed his own experiences with the game, noting that "if I were to review and check every single asset and element in the game, it’ll easily take over a hundred hours." He acknowledged that as director, he sometimes prioritizes main story progression by skipping combat during his own play sessions due to time constraints.
This aligns with the considerable scope of the preceding titles, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Revelation is expected to expand upon this, featuring the airship Highwind for travel between various explorable areas. The game is also set to include numerous mini-games, combat encounters, and secrets for players to discover.
Hamaguchi revealed that he has already completed 46 full playthroughs of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, demonstrating the team's commitment to refining the vast amount of content. He even mentioned checking the game's latest build on a PlayStation 5 during business trips when time permits.
The estimated playtime will likely vary significantly among players, with some dedicating themselves to uncovering every element while others focus solely on the main narrative. The director also previously warned that the game might require approximately 200GB of storage space.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on April 8, 2027.
