Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Director Details Hard Mode Overhaul

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed substantial changes coming to the game's Hard Mode, aiming to provide a more accessible yet challenging experience for players.

In a departure from previous entries in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, Revelation will allow players to select Hard Mode from the very beginning of the game. This decision, according to Hamaguchi, was made to accommodate the extensive post-game content that will be available upon completion. Unlocking Hard Mode only after finishing the game could create a conflict for players wishing to tackle the challenges on their preferred difficulty versus engaging with the newly unlocked content.

Furthermore, the item ban present in the Hard Mode of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth will be removed in Revelation. While strategic play remains crucial, this change aims to offer greater creative freedom in character builds and approaches to combat. Players will still be able to change the difficulty setting, but this will require restarting the current chapter.

Alongside these Hard Mode adjustments, Dynamic Mode is set to return in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. This difficulty setting dynamically adjusts enemy levels to match the player party's current level, ensuring that exploration and side quests do not lead to an over-leveled party that trivializes encounters. This feature is intended to help players maintain a balanced experience throughout their journey, allowing them to immerse themselves in the world without concerns of becoming too powerful too quickly.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is slated for release on April 8, 2027. These changes to Hard Mode and the return of Dynamic Mode are part of the ongoing evolution of the Remake series, culminating in what promises to be a significant chapter for fans.
