Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Feature Player Choices But Offer a Single Ending

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the concluding chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, will incorporate player choices that influence narrative beats, but director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that there will only be one ending.

Speaking with GamesRadar, Hamaguchi explained that these player decisions are intended to provide a more unique experience for each fan heading into the game's climax. "We wanted each player – each fan – to have a unique experience as they head on to the final battle," he stated. He elaborated that as the party approaches the final confrontation, the game will showcase the resolve of each character.

While these choices will shape the journey, they will not alter the ultimate outcome of the story. "There won't be multiple endings that would change depending on the players' choices, but the process of how we get there to that singular ending might be a bit different between the players based on the choices that they make throughout the game," Hamaguchi said. He suggested that these differences could lead players to feel distinct emotions as they reach the story's conclusion, even if the final destination is the same.

Revelation will follow Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which concluded with a currently undisclosed event. The specifics of how Revelation will build upon Rebirth's ending, especially with the narrative modifications introduced throughout the remake series, remain largely a mystery. The prospect of player agency in a story as significant as Final Fantasy 7's is likely to be a point of discussion among fans, particularly given the game's deep cultural impact.
