Final Fantasy VII Revelation will feature the FITS (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear) system, allowing players to customize Cloud and his companions into four distinct job types: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. While this system offers significant combat customization and introduces new characters like Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine, it also alters party member appearances. However, players will have the option to retain the characters' classic outfits, even when utilizing the new FITS classes.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed this during a recent hands-on preview of the game's first chapter. "That was really important for us to keep," Hamaguchi stated in response to a question about maintaining iconic looks. He elaborated, "There are, of course, players who want to use all these different classes, but still want to keep Cloud and his signature look." This functionality will be available from the beginning of the game.
While the exact implementation, whether it's a formal transmog system or a simple visual toggle for FITS appearances, remains unclear, the ability to equip Cloud in his signature Soldier gear while adopting the abilities of a Black Mage, for instance, is a welcome reassurance for players who prefer to preserve the characters' canonical designs during key story moments. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
