Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has affirmed that the game’s ending will connect with multiple titles across the wider Final Fantasy VII universe. In a recent interview, Hamaguchi indicated that narrative threads from games such as Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, and the Advent Children movie are being carefully considered for integration into the Remake trilogy's conclusion.

Hamaguchi acknowledged the significant fan speculation surrounding these connections, stating, "We want to bring all of those in and make sure we're not leaving those out." He elaborated that the development team is focused on crafting an ending for Revelation that harmonizes with these existing properties, encouraging players to anticipate how these elements will be resolved.

These comments echo previous statements made by the development team. In an August interview, Hamaguchi described the Remake series as an "overarching universe that encompasses the lore of the many various spin-offs," not just Advent Children but also Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core. Producer Yoshinori Kitase also confirmed in 2023 that Advent Children would be part of the canon, emphasizing that the overall storyline would align with its events while introducing elements of doubt to maintain narrative intrigue.

Hamaguchi's latest remarks have sparked discussion among fans, with some expressing concern about a departure from the original game's narrative in favor of a more expansive multiverse approach, while others are cautiously optimistic about the potential implications for the characters. He also previously mentioned that while players may influence the story, the game will ultimately lead to a "singular ending."

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is slated for release in spring 2027 and will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
