Final Fantasy XIV's popular Yo-kai Watch collaboration event, "Gather One, Gather All!," has returned, offering players a chance to acquire unique cosmetic rewards. The event is available from August 4th until October 5th. Free trial users can participate, though accessing all areas for rewards requires progression into the Stormblood expansion.
This event presents an efficient opportunity to simultaneously grind for both Yo-kai Watch rewards and Zodiac or Shadowbringers relic weapons, as both activities involve completing FATEs. Players should note that weapons are not available for newer jobs like Sage, Reaper, Viper, or Pictomancer, as the glamour items correspond to jobs available up to the Shadowbringers expansion. New for this iteration of the event are "wibbly-wobbly" furnishings.
To begin, players must first unlock the Gold Saucer and then speak with the Poor-heeled Youth NPC in Ul'dah (at coordinates 9.2, 9.1) to obtain the Yo-kai Watch. Once equipped, completing FATEs in La Noscea, the Black Shroud, Thanalan, or any Heavensward and Stormblood regions with at least a silver or gold rating will yield Yo-kai Medals. These medals can be exchanged with the wandering executive at the Gold Saucer for specific Yo-kai minions. The first minion costs one medal, with subsequent minions costing three.
After acquiring a minion, players must equip it alongside the Yo-kai Watch and travel to designated zones to earn Legendary Yo-kai Medals by completing FATEs. Similar to regular medals, a silver or gold rating is required. These Legendary Medals are then turned in at the Gold Saucer to Nohi. The first weapon glamour costs five Legendary Medals, and each subsequent weapon costs ten. In total, players will need 49 Yo-kai Medals and 165 Legendary Medals to obtain all available weapon glamour items.
Yo-kai Watch Event Rewards
Collecting 13 minions will unlock the Whisper-go mount, while acquiring 13 weapons grants the Whisper-a-go-go mount, a recolored version with Jibanyan. Completing the collection of all 17 weapons rewards the Jibanyan Couch mount. These mounts can be claimed via the in-game achievement menu upon meeting the prerequisites. The weapon glamour items and the Yo-kai Watch itself can be stored in the player's armoire.
Additionally, after obtaining all 17 minions, players can purchase a framer's kit for their adventurer plate for 20,000 Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGP). The new "wibbly-wobbly" furnishings are also available for purchase at the Gold Saucer for 5,000 MGP each.
Efficient FATE Farming
Players can equip both a minion and the Yo-kai Watch simultaneously to earn both regular and Legendary Medals concurrently. It is advisable to keep the Yo-kai Watch equipped throughout FATE grinding until all desired Yo-kai Medals are collected. Utilizing the party finder's FATE section can also help locate groups dedicated to medal farming.
For those seeking to maximize FATE clear speed, the Blue Mage job offers potent abilities. The "Missile" Blue Magic spell can deplete 50% of most A Realm Reborn FATE bosses' health. Furthermore, the Blue Mage instadeath combo, involving "Hydropull" to group enemies, "The Ram's Voice" to freeze them, and "Ultravibration" to instantly defeat the frozen group, can clear non-boss FATEs exceptionally quickly. A party composed entirely of Blue Mages can significantly accelerate FATE completion.
To utilize these Blue Mage abilities, players must first unlock the job by completing the quest "Out of the Blue" in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks. "Missile" is learned from Enkidu in the "Battle in the Big Keep" trial. "The Ram's Voice" is acquired from the Chimera boss in the "Cutter's Cry" dungeon. "Hydropull" is learned from the Kelpie boss in "The Drowned City of Skalla." "Ultravibration" can be learned from Kongamato enemies located in The Peaks (around coordinates 13, 26). Learning these skills requires the enemy to cast the spell first, and learning is not guaranteed unless content is completed at level sync or in a full pre-made party.
Some of these abilities have prerequisites: "Hydropull" and "Ultravibration" require completion of a certain point in the Stormblood main story, while "Cutter's Cry" unlocks via the side quest "Dishonor Before Death." "Battle in the Big Keep" is unlocked through a Hildebrand quest, "Her Lost Vow." Players who have not engaged with Hildebrand quests must begin with "The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen" in Ul'dah. However, players are not strictly required to use these advanced techniques; participating as any job and contributing to FATEs will still yield medals, albeit at a slower pace.
