The first trailer for Legend of the White Dragon, the independent film serving as the final project for the late Power Rangers star Jason David Frank, has been released ahead of its theatrical debut on August 28. Frank, who passed away in November 2022 at the age of 49, starred as Erik Reed in the movie, a former superhero forced to return to action to protect his family and city from a shadowy threat.

Frank was best known for his iconic portrayal of Tommy Oliver across multiple iterations of the Power Rangers franchise, beginning with Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers where he debuted as the Green Ranger before later becoming the White Ranger. His association with the series made him one of its most prominent figures. While Legend of the White Dragon is not an official Power Rangers production, its narrative and visual elements, particularly the 'White Dragon' hero, draw a clear connection to Frank's most famous role. The film's title itself echoes his Green and White Ranger personas.

The story of Legend of the White Dragon involves a prophecy foretelling a battle between the White Dragon and the Dark Dragon, adding a mystical dimension to the superhero narrative. The film also features a cast of actors familiar to Power Rangers fans, including Jason Faunt (Power Rangers Time Force), Cerina Vincent (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy), and Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers Megaforce). It also marks the final film for actor Michael Madsen.

Filming for Legend of the White Dragon took place primarily in 2021, with Frank actively sharing his enthusiasm for the project on social media. Following his death, the independent production company Bat in the Sun committed to completing the film as a tribute to Frank. With distribution support from Well Go USA Entertainment, the company has fulfilled that promise, bringing the film to theaters nearly two years after Frank's passing. The release will offer fans an opportunity to see Frank's last performance and a look at his potential post-Power Rangers career path.
