Finn Jones Calls Iron Fist's Return in Daredevil: Born Again a 'Wonderful Gift'

Finn Jones, who reprises his role as Danny Rand/Iron Fist in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, described his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as "a wonderful gift." Speaking at New York Comic Con 2026, Jones shared his perspective on how the character has developed since his last appearance in The Defenders.

"It's wild to not play a character for 10 years and then come back after all that time. For an actor, it's a wonderful gift," Jones told IGN. "I think personally people grow a lot in 10 years and as an actor you grow a lot and characters grow a lot as well. So to come back with all of that kind of story and to bring that forward into this what I see is it's kind of like a new version of Danny Rand or a more of an evolved, grownup version is really fun. So fun."

While specific plot details remain under wraps for Daredevil: Born Again's third and final season, Jones elaborated on his personal interpretation of Danny Rand's decade-long absence. "I think he's been around the world uh in various different secret orders, probably a lot of like down in ancient ruins in South America and in Asia and really honing his craft," he said. "I think he's gone through a lot of grief and a lot of joy and I think that's really forged the Danny that we see show up in Daredevil Season 3. That's all my own backstory. That's just that's just like where I believe the character has been and then what we see in the show is I think a culmination of that."

Jones characterized the Danny Rand appearing in Daredevil: Born Again as "very, very grounded" with "a different quality to him, which is just a joy to play."

Reflecting on his return to set with his fellow Defenders castmates Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), and Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Jones noted the palpable energy. "It was so charged, you know, like a lot of anticipation and so there was definitely nerves, but there was also a lot of excitement. And I think when you're in that kind of environment, it allows you to really sharpen and focus [on] what you want to bring. And so, it just felt very dynamic," he explained. "Being with these guys again – with Charlie and Krysten and Mike – there's such a great chemistry between all four of us that you can really just relax into the dynamic that's just between us all."

Jones expressed his gratitude for the writing and attention given to his character in the new season. "The way that they've written Danny this year is – I'm just so grateful. I'm just so grateful [for] the level of attention that's been put into the character. And I remember getting the scripts and I was just like, ‘I got no notes.’ I'm just ready to show up and give my all."

He also lauded the stunt team, specifically mentioning coordinator Phil Silvera and his crew. "And I have to say the stunt team working with [coordinator] Phil Silvera and his team have been really they're they're the best. They are the best and I'm so grateful to have them be so supportive and so imaginative bringing Danny Rand back into the MCU."

Daredevil: Born Again is set to conclude its run with its third season in 2027.
