Nintendo has stealth-released the Expansion Pass for its tactical role-playing game, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. The pass is being rolled out in multiple waves, with the first wave already available.
Wave 1 includes four legendary hero relics: the Areadbhar spear, the Aymr axe, the Failnaught bow, and the Sword of the Creator. These weapons are associated with characters from the game's predecessor, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and may prompt in-game commentary from characters like Seteth who appeared in both titles.
Upcoming Content Waves
Waves 2 and 3 promise more substantial additions. Wave 2, slated for a holiday 2026 release, will introduce new outfits for the Flame Lords and their companions. A trailer showcased Father Fabio in an unexpected outfit, but the significant addition will be the inclusion of several game deities as playable companions.
The game already features a mechanic where players can gain a portion of the gods' power through devotion. Wave 2 will allow players to fight alongside three new divine companions: Smyrnos, Jurah, and Aurora. Their presence is expected to have considerable implications for one of the main Flame Lords.
Wave 3, with a tentative release date in 2027, is anticipated to be the largest update. It will add story content focused on four major characters who were not among the initial main protagonists: Anatolia, Talimunn, Bertand, and Orchel. Intelligent Systems, the game's developer, initially planned for Fortune's Weave to feature eight main characters. Evidence of this original design can be seen early in the game, where eight statues are depicted, four representing the Flame Lords of Dagda and four others with seemingly implied significance. The new story content is expected to draw from the originally planned character routes.
Despite the appeal of additional narrative content, particularly for characters like Anatolia and Talimun, the sheer size of the game is a concern for some players. The expansion pass is priced at $35, bringing the total cost for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and all its downloadable content to over $100.
