A recent Nintendo Direct presentation for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave showcased new characters, environments, and even a firearm-like weapon, but also divulged a major plot point from early in the game.

The presentation revealed that the game takes place across two distinct time periods: the year 1449 and five years later, 1454. The Dagdan Empire, still standing in 1454, has been devastated by a demon god named Balor. The narrative will involve the protagonist, Eshmel, being summoned by Sothis to aid heroes in the past and prevent this future catastrophe through pivotal moments in their individual stories. The precise mechanics of how this time-traveling element will function were not detailed.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will feature four heroes from the Dagdan Empire: Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora. Players will be able to switch between these characters at will, experiencing their parallel storylines. The game is scheduled to launch on September 17 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
