Leaked images have provided a first look at an upcoming LEGO set that will feature the first-ever minifigures from the Pokémon franchise. The set, reportedly titled Iconic Trainer Moments: Poké Ball, is expected to debut later this year and will include figures of Red, Professor Oak, Pikachu, and Eevee.
The leaked images showcase a large Poké Ball construction that opens to reveal two distinct dioramas. The interior of the Poké Ball's lid depicts Professor Oak in his lab, offering a choice of starter Pokémon, a scene reminiscent of the early Pokémon Red and Blue games. The base of the Poké Ball displays a diorama featuring minifigures of Red and a Picnicker, positioned for battle amidst a leafy environment that appears to be Viridian Forest. Miniature models of Pikachu and Eevee are also included in the set.
This upcoming release marks a significant departure from previous LEGO Pokémon sets, which have primarily consisted of displayable scale models or smaller builds without minifigures. The demand for playable minifigures has been a long-standing request from fans.
While LEGO has not officially confirmed the set, reliable sources within the LEGO community indicate a potential release date of October 1st, with a price point estimated between $260 and $300. The set is said to comprise 2,343 bricks.
This reveal comes as Pokémon celebrates its 30th anniversary. Although no new main series Pokémon games are planned for release this year, the franchise is anticipating the arrival of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves in 2027, which will be exclusive to the Switch 2. In the interim, the life simulation game Pokémon Pokopia will continue to receive updates, and Pokémon Go is slated to announce future plans via a special livestream later this week.
