SNEG has announced plans to re-release Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor on Steam and GOG, marking its first digital release since its original launch in 2001. The game, which emerged during the resurgence of isometric D&D role-playing games fueled by the success of the Baldur's Gate series, was not critically acclaimed upon release.

Upon its initial launch, Ruins of Myth Drannor was hampered by bugs and a perceived lack of depth compared to its contemporaries, leading to it fading from public memory despite initial pre-release hype. SNEG states that the game "is being updated to run smoothly on modern systems," though specific details regarding enhancements or changes will be revealed closer to its expected launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

Despite its troubled past, there is a degree of interest in whether the game will be re-evaluated in a new context, particularly among players who appreciate older RPGs. SNEG is also planning digital releases for other titles, including Warlords 4: Heroes of Etheria, Soldiers at War, Dark Earth, Ecstatica 1 and 2, and the Second World War tactics game Soldiers of War. According to SNEG director Artem Shchuiko, these games represent diverse attempts to innovate in PC gaming and deserve renewed availability for both nostalgic players and new audiences.

In conjunction with these re-releases, SNEG is currently holding a publisher sale on Steam, offering discounts of up to 90% on a selection of their catalog, including several older D&D titles. This sale will run until July 27.
