Shuhei Yoshida, who previously led Sony Interactive Entertainment's Worldwide Studios, has publicly stated his affection for FromSoftware's Bloodborne and questioned the lack of its availability on PC and current-generation consoles. Yoshida, speaking at the CEDEC Industry event in Japan, included Bloodborne among a selection of impactful games from his nearly 40-year career at Sony.
"This game has a lot of fans all over the world, and it still doesn't have a PS5 version," Yoshida remarked, referencing the game's absence on newer hardware. He further questioned Sony's decision-making, noting the company's frequent release of remasters. "PlayStation's first-party team is releasing a ton of remasters, so why don't they release this one? There's no PC release."
When asked why these versions have not materialized, Yoshida described the situation as a "complete mystery," leaving open the possibility of future releases. "As a huge fan, I hope it will come out," he added. Yoshida transitioned to lead PlayStation Indies in 2019, a few years after Bloodborne's 2015 release and the debut of its 'The Old Hunters' expansion, placing him in a role that might have offered insight into such decisions before his retirement.
Bloodborne, known for its challenging combat and gothic horror aesthetic, remains a PlayStation exclusive, with no official announcement regarding a PC port or a PS5 upgrade. Fans have long speculated about the reasons behind this, with the game's acquisition by Sony and its development by FromSoftware, a studio that has since gone on to create other acclaimed titles like Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, often cited as potential factors. The lack of even a performance patch for the PlayStation 5 has further fueled these discussions.
