Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is set to continue the popular sprite collection mechanic, with Epic Games confirming that players' existing sprite progress will carry over from Chapter 7 Season 3. The upcoming season will also introduce an expanded roster of these collectible creatures.
Sprites were a key addition in Chapter 7 Season 3, acting as collectible companions that grant special perks while equipped. Players were tasked with finding and collecting these small beings, with equipped sprites offering benefits such as increased XP gain through surviving, eliminations, and looting. To secure progress with a sprite, players needed to win a match or extract it, which would then convert experience into Sprite Dust for unlocking rewards.
Sprite Garden Island
The new season, themed around Gaming Legends, will launch with a new getaway island called Sprite Garden. This dedicated space will allow players to interact with their collected sprites. Sprites collected in Season 3 will be "immortalized" on this island, ensuring their availability even if they are later removed from the main Battle Royale rotation.
New Sprite Designs
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 will feature numerous new sprites, including designs from the winners of the Design-A-Sprite contest. Among the revealed concepts are:
A Bullet sprite that grants slightly more ammunition from ammo boxes. A Dumpster Dive sprite that collects loot when players jump into dumpsters. A Honey sprite that releases a swarm of bees towards attackers when the player is damaged, dealing light damage over time. A Pond sprite that increases movement speed, jump height, and reduces fall damage. An X-Ray sprite that briefly reveals players through walls and other objects.
While sprites proved to be a popular addition, their return has generated mixed reactions within the community. Some players find the sprite hunting aspect to be a grind, particularly the need to constantly monitor power hours for rare spawns, which can detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. Despite these concerns, Epic Games has indicated that sprite collection will remain a feature in Fortnite at least through the end of Chapter 7.
