Fortnite has officially kicked off its annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares, bringing a host of spooky-themed content to the game. The update introduces new cosmetic items to the shop, seasonal quests, unique in-game items, and numerous collaborations.
New Character Collaborations
This year's event sees several major franchises join the Fortnite universe. In addition to previously announced collaborations like Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, and Five Nights at Freddy's, the latest gameplay trailer revealed that characters from Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, and Predator will also be appearing in Fortnite later this month. These crossovers will likely manifest as character skins or themed in-game items.
Beyond the collaborations, players can earn original cosmetics, including the Jack-A-Nape monkey skin. This free reward is available to those who complete a total of 26 Fortnitemares quests.
Returning and New Items
The iconic Pumpkin Launcher returns for Fortnitemares, though its availability has changed. It is no longer part of the standard loot pool and must be unlocked using Sprite Dust in the Loot Hacks menu. Other available loot hacks and associated items include the Loot Hacker sprite variant, Infantry Rifle, LMG, Last Call, and Slap Candy Corn.
A new melee weapon, Freddy's Nightmare, inspired by A Nightmare on Elm Street, allows players to perform powerful combos. This can be enhanced by the Deer sprite, which boosts melee attacks, alongside other collectible sprites like Vampire, Spooky Dash, and Dumpster Dive.
Game Modes and POIs
Blitz Royale mode will feature a wealth of familiar Fortnitemares weapons alongside new additions. The popular Horde Rush mode also makes a return, offering players a way to level up and unlock perks to improve their character's stats for extended survival and progression towards the final boss and endless mode.
Battle Royale players can explore new Halloween-themed Points of Interest (POIs) on the island. Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria is one such location, where players must contend with animatronics. Defeating them allows players to possess them, granting extra HP, shields, and a free revive.
The Fortnitemares event is scheduled to run until November 1.
