Ahead of the upcoming launch of Control Resonant, Epic Games is offering a free Dylan Faden skin for Fortnite to players who purchase the sequel through the Epic Games Store. This promotion will begin on August 26 at 12 a.m. EST, just before the seventh anniversary of the original Control's release.
Control Resonant, the follow-up to Remedy Entertainment's 2019 title, is set to release on September 24, 2026. The sequel shifts focus to Jesse Faden's brother, Dylan, who wields a shapeshifting weapon known as the Aberrant. Mastering this weapon's various forms will be crucial for players navigating the game's combat and environments.
The Dylan Faden skin will be available as a gift-with-purchase for those who buy Control Resonant on the Epic Games Store. The offer is not time-limited, meaning players who purchase the game at a later date will still be eligible to receive the skin.
While the skin is initially tied to the Epic Games Store purchase, it will also be made available for purchase in the Fortnite Item Shop at an unspecified later date, likely around the launch of Control Resonant. The skin is expected to cost 1,500 V-Bucks. Players who buy the skin from the shop and later become eligible for the gift-with-purchase offer will receive a one-time refund of 1,500 V-Bucks. However, if a player refunds Control Resonant after receiving the skin or V-Bucks, the item or currency will be removed from their Fortnite account.
Early impressions suggest Control Resonant aims to build upon the foundation of its predecessor while introducing new mechanics. Polygon's Giovanni Colantonio noted in a hands-on preview that Remedy appears capable of delivering a Devil May Cry-style action experience within the established Control universe, maintaining the series' distinctive strange and alluring atmosphere in a Manhattan setting. This sentiment has fostered continued faith in Remedy's development for the upcoming title.
