Epic Games has released a roadmap detailing upcoming content for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, coinciding with the season's first major update scheduled for September 3. The update aims to refresh the experience for players who have had time to engage with the new mechanics introduced in the "Fortnite Override" season, which began on August 20.
The "Fortnite Override" season brought a variety of new cosmetics, themed landmarks, and distinct items and weapons. This upcoming update, however, focuses on reintroducing elements from previous seasons and introducing new gameplay modifiers.
According to a teaser from the Fortnite Status account on X, the update will feature both unvaulted and new weapons. Players can also expect the introduction of "Sprites," a new mechanic, alongside "loot hacks" and "overrides," which are central to the Chapter 7 Season 4 theme. The roadmap specifically highlights "Cheat Code Day" and "Power Hours" as recurring events within the week.
On Mondays, players can anticipate finding better Cheat Codes and will receive double Sprite XP and Sprite Dust. Saturdays are designated as "Power Hours," offering higher spawn rates for specific sprite variants, the 1Up token, and portable extractors.
The update scheduled for Thursday, September 3, will include the unvaulting of the Assault Rifle, Burst Assault Rifle, and Holo Twister Assault Rifle. Two "Design-a-Sprite" winner sprites will also be added, including the X-Ray sprite, which temporarily reveals player silhouettes through walls and other objects, and the Onigiri sprite, which increases the ammunition dropped from ammo boxes.
Rumors suggest that assets for the previously vaulted Typhoon Blade have been updated, leading to speculation about its potential return. This could be linked to the anticipated release of Sora's blade, expected to arrive as part of a Kingdom Hearts collaboration. It remains unclear if the Typhoon Blade would be a reskin of the Keyblade or a separate reintroduction.
The Fortnite update is slated for Thursday, September 3, with downtime expected to begin between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. ET.
