The Cuddles and Chaos event has officially launched in Fortnite, offering players a variety of free rewards and introducing a new category of Creative Islands centered around creature gameplay. This event aims to highlight "creature games," a new Creative Island classification in Fortnite that emphasizes sidekick mechanics.

Epic Games first explored the idea of companion creatures in Fortnite during Chapter 1 Season 6 in 2018 with pets. These early iterations were largely cosmetic, functioning as back blings with limited animations and were eventually discontinued. Seven years later, in November 2025, the concept was revisited with the introduction of sidekicks. These free-roaming creatures follow players and are invisible to opponents, offering a more dynamic companion experience. Players could customize their sidekicks and earn Sidekick Points to unlock additional cosmetic items.

While sidekicks were seen as an improvement, many felt their potential was not fully realized. The Cuddles and Chaos event seeks to expand on this by enabling island creators to develop maps featuring sidekicks, preparing for the event's launch. This has led to the current Cuddles and Chaos event, designed to make the most of these creatures.

To access these new islands, players must navigate to the in-game Discovery section within the Play tab. From there, they should scroll to "Game Collections" and select "Cuddles and Chaos." This section features "Exceptional Creature Games," including Sidekick Wars and Sidekick Masters, alongside "Creature Standouts" such as Astropets Tycoon and Pets vs Brainrots.

Players have until August 25 to complete the Cuddles and Chaos Quests. These quests require participation in the event's Creative Islands and offer a chance to earn free cosmetics, including the Panda Team Jr. sidekick. panda-inspired sidekick being given away in the Cuddles and Chaos event

An issue arose shortly after the quests' release, causing the game to crash, which led to Epic Games temporarily disabling them. Separate from the in-game quests, a special Twitch Drop is also available. Viewers can tune into specific Twitch streams on July 24 and watch for 30 minutes to receive the KATS Turntable back bling. Participating streamers include Mayahiga, BoxyFresh, Carynandconnie, and Ronnie Eeowna.
