Fortnite's Hot Bat Summer event has arrived, introducing a collection of new character outfits inspired by DC Comics' annual swimsuit covers. This crossover brings themed quest rewards and new gameplay elements centered around Batman.
The event introduces revealing new skins for Gotham City characters, including Coastal Catwoman, High Tide Harley, Chlorophyll Ivy, and Beach Bod Batman. These outfits continue a recent trend of more risque designs for Fortnite. The event, which launched Thursday, also adds a Bat Cave Points of Interest (POI), the Batman Beach Buggy vehicle, and the Batman Grapnel Gun to the game.
The summer-themed outfits are set to be available in the Fortnite Shop starting July 16 at 8 p.m. EDT. Each character skin will also include a Lego version, a Pickaxe, and a Back Bling.
Players can earn new Batman Sprites by completing quests during the Hot Bat Summer event. In Battle Royale matches, the Batman Sprite can be deployed mid-air to activate a Bat Cape and increases the likelihood of finding rare sprites within chests.
Additional quest rewards include G’nort's Summer Tote Back Bling, the Caped Cooler-sader Pickaxe, and the Zap-brella Glider. G’nort Esplanade G'neesmacher, an anthropomorphic dog from DC Comics known for comic relief, is the inspiration for one of these items.
The Hot Bat Summer event will feature boosted activities during "Shiny Hours" on Saturday, July 18. During these periods, all players will begin with a Batman Grapnel Gun and a Self-Revive Device. The spawn rates for the Batman Sprite and Beach Buggy will be increased, and rarer Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, and Holofoil Sprite variants will appear more frequently. These Shiny Hours will occur from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. EDT and again from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. EDT on July 18.
