Fortnite has introduced a new Star Wars-themed skin, the "Forsworn Trooper," which is exclusively unlockable by visiting two specific Disney theme parks. Players must engage with the "Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run" experience at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, or Disney's Hollywood Studios near Orlando, Florida, to obtain the in-game cosmetic.
This collaboration deepens the existing relationship between Epic Games and Disney. To claim the skin, players need to link their Epic Games account with their Disney Experiences data. The Forsworn Trooper skin features a design reminiscent of scavenged Stormtrooper armor, complete with a hooded cloak and goggles.
For those unable to visit the parks, Fortnite also offers "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Gambit," a new in-game adventure that mirrors the park experience. This allows players to step into roles such as pilots, gunners, and engineers to operate the Millennium Falcon. This in-game content aims to extend the theme park narrative into the game, a concept that IGN noted in its impressions could be a "clever way to either extend your theme-park experience outside of Disneyland’s walls and into your home, or vice versa."
Fortnite has a history of collaborations with the Star Wars franchise, having previously featured crossovers to promote films like "Rise of Skywalker" and Disney+ series such as "The Mandalorian." Further integration is expected later this year with the anticipated launch of a new Fortnite mode, following Disney's significant $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games in early 2024. While details remain scarce, reports suggest this mode may incorporate extraction shooter gameplay mechanics similar to those found in titles like "Arc Raiders."
