As Fortnite's Chapter 7 Season 4 draws to a close, speculation about the upcoming mini-season's theme has focused heavily on a potential crossover with the popular anime and manga series One Piece. This speculation was further fueled by the appearance of a mysterious pirate treasure chest on the in-game island. However, recent promotional material released by Epic Games indicates that the season may feature a general anime-pirate theme rather than an exclusive One Piece collaboration.
Fortnite is currently celebrating its annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares, which concludes in the early hours of November 1, coinciding with the end of Chapter 7 Season 4. This transition period typically leads into a brief mini-season before the launch of a new chapter.
Teasers for the forthcoming mini-season began appearing, including the in-game treasure chest that has been gradually revealing its appearance. While a One Piece collaboration seemed increasingly likely to fans, recent advertisements outside the game have presented a different picture. Promotional posters spotted on the Madrid subway system starting October 20 feature what appear to be original, cell-shaded anime-style skins developed by Epic Games.
One of these posters depicts a black-haired anime character alongside a treasure map with the text "Have you seen the treasure?" A second poster showcases a turquoise-haired character, previously noted in a skin survey, with the words "Join the hunt" over an image of sand. Both advertisements incorporate Fortnite's pirate llama logo.
The absence of any recognizable One Piece characters in these official posters dampens hopes for a direct collaboration. While a surprise announcement is still possible, the current advertising suggests that the mini-season will likely focus on a pirate theme, possibly reminiscent of Chapter 1 Season 8's "X marks the spot" slogan, rather than a full-fledged One Piece event. This potential shift in theme could be seen as a departure from the scale of last year's major Simpsons event, which included a Springfield map and themed content.
