Fortnite's annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares, is set to begin on Thursday, October 1, with a highly anticipated crossover featuring the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. This event typically introduces horror-themed collaborations, changes to in-game locations, and limited-time items.
The collaboration was officially unveiled by Fortnite on September 27, revealing a trailer that showcased Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and iconic characters such as Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy. These animatronics will appear in the game, with players needing to avoid elimination by them. It is also suggested that players may be able to control the animatronics by approaching them from behind. Furthermore, several of these characters are expected to be available as skins in the Item Shop.
This partnership has been a long-standing wish among fans, as numerous player-created maps in Fortnite are already based on Five Nights at Freddy's. The original game series, which gained immense popularity, involves players surviving nights at a pizzeria haunted by aggressive animatronic characters. The blend of Fortnite's often quirky aesthetic and characters with the creepy nature of the FNAF animatronics has led many to believe they are a fitting addition to the game.
