Forza Horizon 6 may not be launching on PlayStation 5 as anticipated, with a new report from Dealabs leaker billbil-kun indicating a delay to January 26, 2027. This contradicts recent statements from developer Playground Games, who had previously insisted that the game had not been pushed back and had opened wishlisting on the PlayStation Store.
This is not the first time a delay has been rumored; The Verge and IGN reported similar information in late August. However, Playground Games publicly countered these claims shortly after, stating that the open-world driving game was still on track and not delayed. The latest leak from billbil-kun, however, provides a specific release date and suggests an official announcement could be imminent, potentially alongside the opening of pre-orders.
According to billbil-kun, the game is expected to be priced at £59.99 in the UK and €69.99 in Europe, with a physical retail version also planned. The leaker was unable to confirm if a Premium Edition would be offered on PS5, a version that on PC and Xbox includes an expansion pass, car pass, and other in-game bonuses, along with up to four days of early access. It's possible a digital-only Premium Edition might be planned for PS5, which would not be visible to retail-focused sources.
Playground Games recently issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), apologizing for a general lack of communication regarding Forza Horizon 6 and assuring players that their feedback was being heard. The studio also promised to re-evaluate its communication strategy going forward.
It remains possible that the decision to move the game to January 2027 was made after Playground's last public statement. Forza Horizon 6 has been a significant commercial success, continuing to attract a large player base and reportedly becoming the highest-grossing new release on Steam in 2026. A review from Eurogamer described the game as reaching the zenith of the Horizon spirit, even if it did not introduce radical new concepts.
