Forza Horizon 6 is reportedly set to arrive on PlayStation 5 in January 2027, according to a report from Dealabs.
The racing title, developed by Playground Games, initially launched on Xbox Series X and S and PC in May 2026. The reported January 26, 2027 release date for the PS5 version would place it before the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. Earlier in 2026, Tom Warren of The Verge had indicated that Forza Horizon 6 would not release on PS5 that year, a statement that contrasted with earlier remarks from Playground. The studio has not yet issued a new comment on the recent report.
Microsoft's strategy has seen a shift towards making fewer titles console exclusives, with games like Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution confirmed for Xbox platforms but not PlayStation. However, Forza Horizon 6 appears to be an exception. This is perhaps unsurprising given that Forza Horizon 5 reportedly sold over 5 million copies on PS5, generating more than $300 million in revenue.
IGN's review of Forza Horizon 6 awarded it a perfect 10/10, praising it as "the best-looking and best-sounding game Playground has produced to date, set in the most wonderfully realised map it’s ever crafted."
The Dealabs report also suggests a physical edition for the PS5 version will launch simultaneously with the digital release. This comes at a time when Sony is planning to phase out physical disc production for new PlayStation games by 2028, a move that has faced significant backlash and led to petitions with hundreds of thousands of signatures.
The reported price for Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 is expected to align with the Xbox version at approximately $69.99. The game is also available through Game Pass, though Microsoft's strategy regarding subscription services and day-one releases has faced scrutiny. The former director of Forza Horizon has previously linked the perceived failure of Game Pass to recent layoffs at Xbox.
Playground Games recently addressed community feedback regarding Forza Horizon 6 after a period of silence. Concurrently, a second team at the studio is reportedly in the final stages of development for the Fable reboot, scheduled for release on Xbox, PC, and PS5 on February 23, 2027.
