The immensely popular Fourth Wing series is expanding with its first graphic novel adaptation, slated for release on April 6, 2027. Amazon has opened preorders for "Fourth Wing, The Graphic Novel: Volume One (The Empyrean Series)," which will adapt chapters 1 through 22 of Rebecca Yarros' original novel.
The graphic novel will be available simultaneously in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle editions. Alongside the standard release, a "Deluxe Signed Edition" is also offered at a higher price point. As of now, the cover art for the graphic novel has not yet been revealed.
Anabel Rossi, an illustrator known for her fan art of various popular franchises including "House of the Dragon," is handling the artwork for the project. Rebecca Yarros herself is penning the adaptation. While the release date for the fourth book in the main Empyrean series is speculative, the author's involvement in the graphic novel could potentially influence its timeline. The previous book, "Onyx Storm," was released in early 2025, a little over a year after its predecessor, "Iron Flame."
Beyond the graphic novel, a new title in the Empyrean series, "Threshing Day," is scheduled for release on September 29, 2026. This book will feature 13 stories focusing on fan-favorite characters during the day they bonded with their dragons.
Furthermore, the "Fourth Wing" television series adaptation, with Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society attached, remains in development. These ongoing projects signal the continued growth and prominence of The Empyrean series within the romantasy genre.
