Silica, the hybrid FPS and RTS game developed by Bohemia Interactive, has officially launched its 1.0 version, exiting early access. The game, which draws inspiration from titles like Dune and Helldivers, offers players a blend of first-person combat and strategic command.

Players take on the role of either a ground-level soldier engaging in FPS action or a commander directing forces from an overhead perspective. The core gameplay revolves around two factions competing for a valuable resource on a hostile alien planet, which is also populated by hostile alien creatures.

The 1.0 update introduces the Centauri Campaign, a story-driven single-player experience focused on the war for Baltarus. This campaign features a cinematic introduction, fully voiced briefings and dialogue, and a dynamic 3D planetary globe that tracks territorial changes. RTS elements have been enhanced with the ability to arrange units into formations, issue more precise orders, and select all units of the same type. AI targeting and vehicle movement have also been improved for more effective large-scale battles.

Additionally, the update adds 1v1 matchmaking, allowing players to compete against each other as commanders. The Steam Workshop has also seen an expansion of sandbox tools, enabling players to create and share their own custom scenarios. The developers have also implemented numerous bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Silica is available for purchase on Steam.
