Amazon has released a new, free Batman game titled Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles, coinciding with the premiere of its second animated Batman series season. The investigative game is accessible through Amazon Luna, the company's cloud gaming service, and does not require a dedicated gaming console or PC.

Players step into the shoes of Batman to solve a variety of crimes across Gotham City. The game features 11 episodic cases and includes appearances from classic Batman antagonists like The Joker and Scarecrow. Developers have highlighted the inclusion of unique detective-themed minigames that can be enjoyed with up to three other players.

Participation in Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles requires at least one participant to hold an Amazon Prime membership and to possess a smartphone compatible with Amazon Luna. The game is part of Amazon Luna's GameNight collection, which focuses on social party games. This initiative appears to be part of Amazon's broader effort to increase awareness and usage of its Luna streaming service. The platform currently offers a selection of games, including the narrative superhero title Dispatch, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, and various Jackbox Party Packs. Amazon has noted that many Prime subscribers are unaware of the gaming content available to them.

To improve the visibility of these offerings, Amazon recently introduced a dedicated "Luna" tab within its Prime Video section. Despite this, the service may still be difficult for some users to locate. However, the platform hosts several notable titles beyond the free offerings, such as Fallout 4 and Alan Wake 2.

The new animated series, which premiered on July 31, aims for a 1940s noir aesthetic. While described as a mixed bag, the season features a notable performance by The Joker, which may serve as a draw for viewers.
