FromSoftware has issued an apology after widespread server issues plagued the initial day of its network test for the highly anticipated Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods. The developer announced that the first scheduled testing session, which began early on August 21, 2026, was cut short due to players being unable to log in.
Many participants reported encountering error messages stating "Failed to log in to The Duskbloods game server" when attempting to join the test. The network test was originally planned to run until 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET, but was closed significantly earlier. FromSoftware acknowledged the disruptions on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who were waiting for the first The Duskbloods network test due to game server issues. We regret to inform you that today's session is now closed."
The developer assured players that it is actively working to "improve the servers" and will "announce future schedules at a later date." It remains unclear if subsequent testing sessions planned for the weekend will be affected.
The Duskbloods is FromSoftware's latest title, described as a PvPvE action game where players embody supernatural beings known as Bloodsworn, imbued with special abilities by blood. The game is set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive and tasks players with competing in battles for "First Blood" as humanity approaches its twilight. The studio, known for critically acclaimed titles such as Elden Ring, has seen significant anticipation for this new project.
While some players expressed understandable disappointment with the technical difficulties, others showed support for the network test process. Comments on social media highlighted that the purpose of such tests is to identify and resolve these very issues before the game's full launch. A release date for The Duskbloods has not yet been announced, but it is expected to launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 before the end of 2026.
