Frontier Developments, known for its work on titles such as Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution, has announced a new partnership with Disney. This collaboration will see the creation of a new video game that leverages Disney's extensive intellectual property.
The new project is fully funded by Frontier, and while specific details about the game's content or its release window have not yet been revealed, the studio intends to build upon its established expertise in the Creative Management Simulation (CMS) genre. Jo Cooke, CEO of Frontier, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it reinforces the company's strategy of developing and nurturing world-class CMS game franchises. Cooke added that the mission is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world's most iconic and beloved brands.
This announcement arrives as Frontier prepares to release its quarterly earnings, following a period of significant activity. The studio is also slated to release Planet Zoo 2 in October, which will feature expanded gameplay elements including flying and aquatic creatures and will launch on multiple platforms beyond PC. Additionally, Frontier is reportedly working on another unannounced management game.
While speculation about the nature of the Disney game is ongoing, the studio's track record suggests a potential focus on management simulation, possibly themed around Disney's own renowned theme parks.
