Disney offered a glimpse into the highly anticipated Frozen 3 at its recent D23 fan event, revealing new story elements and characters.

The presentation showcased an early clip from the film, which is set to begin after the wedding of Anna and Kristoff. The ceremony is interrupted by a mysterious phenomenon involving the Northern Lights, heralding the arrival of a new antagonist. Lyrics sung by Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, who voice Elsa and Anna respectively, described the event as a "cursed frozen heart."

Kristen Bell noted that the world of Frozen would feel "a bit different" in the upcoming installment, with Menzel adding that the characters would embark on their "biggest journey yet."

Amidst the potentially darker narrative, Olaf the snowman, voiced by Josh Gad, is set to find romance. Gad performed a song suggesting Olaf will develop feelings for a character named Samantha, a nod to a similar joke from Frozen 2.

The first footage revealed at the event begins with a jagged snowflake freezing solid as Elsa attempts to stop it. As the other characters, including a newly married Anna and Kristoff, gather, a shimmering frozen walkway extends towards the Northern Lights. The clip concludes with Elsa encountering a cloaked figure surrounded by snowflakes, who addresses the "famous sisters of Arendelle" with a clearly malevolent tone.

Frozen 3 is slated for theatrical release on November 24, 2027. The core cast members are all expected to return for the film, which follows 2019's Frozen 2. Earlier this year, Kristen Bell addressed reports about her salary for Frozen 3 and a confirmed Frozen 4, stating that while she was paid "very well," the specific figures circulating were inaccurate.
