Cygames' PC release of Umamusume: Pretty Derby on Steam in June 2025 introduced players to the concept of managing the racing careers of "horse girls." Now, developer Blue Bullet is set to launch its own take on the racing simulation genre with Full Stride, a jockey simulator that will feature actual horses instead of anime-inspired characters. The game is slated for release on July 16, 2026.
Full Stride aims to capture the excitement of horse racing, with Blue Bullet promising that players will "feel the tension as the gates open, fight for position within the pack, decide when to make your move, and experience the thrill of a head-to-head battle down the final stretch." The simulation will require players to consider various factors beyond simple speed, including a horse's racing style, stamina, sprint aptitude, pace, and preferred distance to achieve victory. This approach mirrors the strategic depth found in managing umamusume careers, where training regimens and track suitability are crucial for success.
The game will also include a photo mode, allowing players to capture and appreciate key moments from the races. This feature suggests an emphasis on the visual spectacle and unique atmosphere of the sport.
Full Stride is available to wishlist on Steam now. The decision to focus on realistic horses offers a distinct approach to the niche established by 'umamusume' titles, potentially appealing to a different segment of the simulation racing audience.
