Game Freak, known for its work on the mainline Pokémon RPGs, is set to release another non-Pokémon title in December in Japan. Titled Ame no Chi Hare Onna, this mobile game is a collaboration between Game Freak and Chronogate, and it is directed by Shigeru Ohmori, who has helmed several Pokémon games. The title will feature gameplay mechanics influenced by real-world weather conditions.

Ame no Chi Hare Onna stars a magical girl named Hare Onna, who can harness the power of weather. She is accompanied by Pon Arai, a creature described as a messenger from the gods. The game appears to follow a theme of partnerships between humans and animals, reminiscent of the spirit found in Pokémon.

While specific details on how real-world weather will affect the game remain scarce, the concept is that gameplay could vary daily based on whether it is raining, sunny, or snowing. The game is scheduled to launch on mobile platforms in Japan this December. There has been no announcement regarding an English localization at this time.

This release follows Game Freak's action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, which launched in August. Meanwhile, the developer's focus also remains on the upcoming Pokémon titles, Pokémon Winds and Waves, expected next year for the Switch 2.
