Game Freak to Publish Three Massive Art Books for Pokémon's 30th Anniversary

Game Freak is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pokémon with a monumental art book collection. Three volumes will be released in Japan on December 18, 2026, each dedicated to a specific era of the franchise's extensive history. Together, these books will comprise over 1,500 pages of visual content.

The first art book will cover Generations 1 through 4, encompassing titles such as the original Pokémon Red and Green through Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The second volume will focus on Generations 5 through 7, featuring games like Pokémon Black and White and their sequels, Pokémon X and Y, and Pokémon Sun and Moon. The final book will delve into more recent titles, including Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Each book is priced at 5,500 yen, approximately $35 USD. While official details regarding English translations or a potential international release date have not yet been announced, the collection promises to include artwork, conceptual materials, and interviews with Game Freak developers. This art book series is the latest in a series of commemorative releases for the 30th anniversary of the beloved franchise, which began with Pocket Monsters Red and Green in Japan in 1996.
