Game Informer has announced the launch of its official mobile application, now available for both iOS and Android devices. This new app aims to provide users with a cleaner and more engaging way to consume Game Informer's diverse range of content, complementing the existing website and print magazine.
The application offers access to all of the publication's editorial content, encompassing news, reviews, previews, and feature articles. Subscribers can also access the full digital version of the magazine directly through the app. In addition to its editorial offerings, the app presents a visually enhanced release calendar, which is curated and updated daily, providing tools for users to sort and organize upcoming game releases.
Video content from Game Informer, including exclusive interviews and regular shows such as The Game Informer Show, and New Gameplay Today, is also organized within the app for easy navigation and viewing. Furthermore, the app grants access to the publication's extensive magazine archive, dating back to 1991, featuring over 380 issues. Users can view full two-page spreads by rotating their mobile devices sideways.
Notably, the Game Informer app is designed to be algorithm-free. Users have the autonomy to curate their reading experience by saving news stories, full issues, and video episodes for later access, allowing them to control their content consumption rather than relying on algorithmic recommendations. Game Informer is currently considering this a soft launch and encourages users to report any bugs or issues they encounter.
