Game Informer is embarking on a new Super Replay series revisiting Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the 2008 title that served as Hideo Kojima's purported final entry in the iconic series. The game tasked Kojima Productions with concluding decades of narrative, bringing together characters like Solid Snake, Ocelot, Otacon, and Raiden for what was intended as a grand finale.
The central plot follows an aging Solid Snake as he races against time to thwart his nemesis and twin brother, Liquid Snake. Guns of the Patriots was lauded for its narrative, cinematic presentation, and advancements in stealth gameplay, notably the OctoCamo suit that allowed Solid Snake to blend with his surroundings. The game also received a perfect 10/10 score from Game Informer upon its original release.
This new series allows players to experience Metal Gear Solid 4 through the recently released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, bypassing the need for a PlayStation 3. Charles Harte, new to the Metal Gear series, is playing Guns of the Patriots for the first time, accompanied by Marcus Stewart, a long-time fan who is revisiting the game more than a decade after his initial playthrough.
The Super Replay began live on Twitch and YouTube at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET. Episodes will continue weekly for two hours each until the conclusion of the game. Viewers unable to watch the live streams can find archived episodes on YouTube.
