PlaySide Games will unveil the first gameplay for its upcoming real-time strategy title, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, on August 25 during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The PC game aims to capture the epic scale of the popular fantasy series.
Recent news indicates that the game experienced a delay, but further details and visual representation are expected at the European video game exhibition. A brief teaser clip depicted a clash between Lannister and Stark forces, with a dragon intervening to alter the course of the battle.
War for Westeros will feature multiple factions, including House Targaryen and the Night King's army, each with unique tactics, abilities, and hero units. Players will have the opportunity to forge alliances in their pursuit of the Iron Throne. Notable characters such as Jon Snow, Tywin Lannister, and Daenerys Targaryen will lead their respective armies. The game is also set to include multiplayer modes.
While focusing on large-scale army command, the developers are striving for a visceral experience that incorporates magical elements like giants and undead forces. Diplomacy will play a significant role, potentially leading to unconventional alliances, such as a previously shown scenario where Jon Snow and the Night King united against King's Landing.
Gamescom Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, is scheduled for August 25 and is expected to feature new game reveals and exclusive announcements.
