Xbox has outlined the initial slate of games arriving on Game Pass for September 2026, revealing a lineup that appears notably light, particularly for the premium Game Pass Ultimate tier.
The headliner for the first half of the month is Speedrunners 2: King of Speed, a multiplayer 2D platforming racer and sequel to a well-regarded 2016 title. However, this title is the sole new addition not also available on the more affordable Game Pass Premium tier, suggesting that Ultimate subscribers may not be receiving their full value early in the month.
Several other games are joining the service. Shelldiver will be available across cloud, console, and PC starting September 1. Speedrunners 2: King of Speed arrives on September 3 for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Dice a Million, a new addition to Game Pass Premium on September 4, will also be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War joins the library on September 8 for cloud, console, and PC. The Royal Writ and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage are both set to arrive on September 10 for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC. Finally, RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be accessible on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC from September 15.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage are significant additions, both are older titles. The TCG Card Shop Simulator, already on the service, will receive its full 1.0 release on September 15. Additionally, EA Sports NHL 27 will offer an early access trial beginning September 4. Players looking forward to Aniimo, a new RPG, will receive a complimentary reward pack upon its launch.
However, the month also sees the departure of several prominent titles. Cyberpunk 2077 will leave Game Pass on September 15, coinciding with the exit of Dead Cells, Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, Frostpunk 2, Mullet Madjack, and Spiritfarer. Although August offered a strong selection of games, the initial offerings for September may leave some subscribers hoping for more substantial content in the latter half of the month, especially before the anticipated arrival of Gears of War: E-Day in October.
